I'm a freelance journalist from Ireland, based between Reykjavík and Dublin. I cover news and analysis from both Iceland and Ireland for The Irish Times and the Irish Independent. My work has also been published in the Irish Examiner, the BBC, National Geographic Travel, Euronews, Politico and Garda Review. I have also appeared on RTÉ’s Prime Time and Sunday Miscellany, Radio-Canada television, and on podcasts for The Irish Times and Newstalk.

I cover breaking news, court and crime reporting, and rural affairs. I have interviewed heads of state and government ministers, including Iceland’s President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.  For features, I specialise in culture, music and human interest stories.  I speak fluent French and some Icelandic, German, and Swedish.

With over a decade of experience in Brussels, I also bring an international perspective to my work.  I've worked at the European Commission, the United Nations and the Committee of the Regions. I have provided editorial support to the European Commission, the EEAS, CORDIS, REA, the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Brussels Invest and Export, and many Brussels-based communications agencies. 

 

I'm a creative thinker with strong research and storytelling skills, and am skilled at making complex subjects clear and accessible, particularly for multilingual and international audiences. 

 

I’m also a musician and studied documentary making at IADT. My passion is connecting with others and telling the ordinary but extraordinary everyday stories of life.
